I Heart Jersey

My new solo exhibition, 'I Heart Jersey', runs until Friday 27 May 2022 at Private & Public gallery.
The works are a fondly irreverent commentary on contemporary Jersey life.
They were produced in one of the most creative periods I've ever had,

Earlier news: new works

Les Platons 150

If you haven’t been able to get to the Alps recently, why not bring them here?
This playful parody of a piste map takes Les Platons, the highest ‘peak’ on the north cliffs of Jersey, and transforms it into an imaginary ski resort. Bays and headlands appear as epic mountain scenery, cliff paths as ski runs with distinctly Jersey names, and tiny cliff-top woods as sprawling alpine forests…

There are 15 prints available in this limited edition.

The work is currently on display at Private & Public Gallery, Jersey.
For all purchase enquiries, please contact Chris Clifford at that gallery  (chris@privateandpublic.com).

The Battle of Jersey

This limited edition print is inspired by the French fishing fleet’s recent incursion into St. Helier harbour in protest at what they perceive to be unfair treatment by the States of Jersey in respect of their post Brexit territorial fishing rights.

The Battle of Jersey took place in 1781 and was the last French attempt to seize the Island. It was also the last time a pitch battle was fought on British soil against an invading force, on that occasion led by Baron Phillipe de Rullecourt who intended to remove the threat that British naval vessels based in Jersey posed to French and American supply ships engaged in the American Revolutionary War. Successfully repelled by the Jersey Garrison led by Major Pierson, who was killed in action, this remains one of the most important moments in the Island’s history.

Some 240 years later the world’s media broadcast news that British and French war ships were being sent to Jersey in what appeared to be a heated escalation of threats between London and Paris.

There are 12 prints available in this limited edition.

For all purchase enquiries in relation to this work, please contact Chris Clifford at Private & Public Gallery, Jersey  (chris@privateandpublic.com).
